Oops, you just had a cheat meal last night and now you're not sure if your body is still in ketosis. Before going into a full-blown panic mode, there are some things you can do to get your body back on track, without falling out of ketosis.
Now, keep in mind that if you're keto-adapted and have been on the diet for a couple of months, one cheat meal isn't going to kick you out of ketosis. However, if you're just starting the diet and have been trying to cut back on the carbs and then suddenly you eat a ton of pizza, you might have a problem.
Whatever the case may be, don't let your one cheat meal discourage you. There's a way to help your body recover and get back into ketosis without you having to throw in the towel.
If you're working out at the gym regularly, then try upper and lower body part split workouts. This should help assist your body in more ways than one. Fat hangs out in the lymph system, so by doing these exercises you're helping the fat move along, and thus helping your body get back into ketosis. In other words, you're manually assisting the mobilization of fat. Pretty cool, huh?!
Another way to get back into ketosis is by utilizing caffeine. As Thomas DeLauer mentioned in the video, as long as you're not going overboard, implementing caffeine can aid you while you're on the keto diet. It's pretty crazy how many ketones are in caffeine and using them to our advantage is a great way to help push a body back into ketosis.
