The keto diet focuses on a low carb diet while eating plenty of protein and fat. However, it's not imperative to follow a workout plan while on the diet. Sure it should help, but it's not a required part of the diet. The good news is that by transitioning into a state of ketosis and following the correct guidelines you should lose a lot of weight and be able to maintain that weight loss.
However, there are plenty of benefits to exercising on a low carb diet, such as enjoying the weight loss and becoming fitter. If that by itself is not adequate, there are additional benefits to working out on a low-carb diet, which is also outlined in the Body Reboot book.
There are four basic types of exercise to consider for your keto workout routine:
Aerobic – Also called “cardio” aerobic exercise as we described above will not be the fuel injector to rocket your weight loss to the next dimension. What it will be is a good way to get the blood flowing and improve cardiovascular health.
Weight training – Also called “anaerobic exercise,” weight training is not a necessary component of a keto workout routine. However, many people on the low-carb diet choose to take up bodybuilding, and weight training is the only viable way to pursue that interest.
Flexibility – Flexibility training can include before and after workout stretching, or you may want to concentrate on yoga, which not only produces greater flexibility but greater strength and endurance. Yoga will also help you tone your physique.
Stability – Stability workouts aren't discussed much, but they can play an important role in helping you strengthen your muscles, improve your balance and gain greater control over your physical movements.
Exercising on keto may or may not make a difference when it comes to weight loss. It all depends on the person and how their body responds to the keto diet and exercise. This will also be determined by how closely you follow the keto diet. As you begin to lose weight on the keto diet adding exercise to your daily routine should help you enjoy the benefits further – such as loving your new and improved profile!
